Acquisition of GM Motors by Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) recently has further boosted the industrialisation in Talegaon area as many automobile ancillaries of HMIL have acquired Industrial Land and are setting up their production units at Talegaon. Talegaon is also an emerging warehousing destination in Maharashtra due to its proximity to Chakan, Wagholi, Khed, Pune city, Nashik, Mumbai, JNPT Port and some of the major highways.

MIDC (Maharashtra Regional Development Corporation) has large plans for the industrialization of region, and the total development planned in the area will exceed 5000 acres when fully completed. Talegaon has already established itself as a self-sufficient residential domain with several residential complexes, hospitals, schools, colleges and restaurants. Talegaon has availability of skilled and unskilled manpower.

One of the main advantages of Talegaon MIDC is that it is located just off the Pune-Mumbai highway which ensures quick connectivity to Mumbai International Airport, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport. This makes international trade and logistics very convenient. Major industrial belts like Pimpri-Chinchwad Industrial Area and Chakan Industrial Area are directly connected to Talegaon MIDC via a network of well-developed roads. This also makes the movement of trucks and other heavy vehicles very easy. The renowned Hinjewadi IT Park is within a short driving distance.

Salient feature of Talegaon Industrial Area

(a). Talegaon Industrial Area: Talegaon Industrial area has MIDC and Freehold land on which the industries have been set up.  The main activity is Engineering and Floriculture.

Free Hold Land Parcels are available in and around MIDC. Talegaon – Chakan road is also full of Free Hold industrial land parcels. Some of the big developers are acquiring large size of free hold land parcel, developing the same by constructing built to suit structure and leasing out to the companies on a long term lease.

MIDC has developed about 585 hectares of land within the limits of villages Navlak-Umbre, Akurdi, and Ambi as Talegaon Industrial Area. MIDC is developing the industrial area at Talegaon in 5 Phases, and named them Phase I to Phase V.  

  1. Phase I & II is fully developed and the complete land has been allotted to big companies. Floriculture/ Pushwardhan is a part of Phase I Talegaon Software park is proposed and yet to come up. No land is available with MIDC in these phases.
  2.  Land is under acquisition at Phase III and Phase IV.
  3. The land has recently been acquired and allotted out in Phase V. But infrastructure is under development on fast track in this phase. No land parcel is available for direct allotment of land in the general category. However, the MIDC is considering allotment of land under priority category for FDI or to Fortune 500 companies.

(b). Dominating Industrial Activity in the Area– Main activities of the industries in Talegaon are Engineering, Automobile, IT ITES, and Floriculture. With the acquisition of General Motors by Hyundai. Many Hyundai subsidiaries and ancillaries units are expected to come up in this area.

(c). Availability of ManpowerSemi-Skilled & Unskilled manpower is easily available in and around Talegaon. There are many industries and villages in close proximity to Talegaon and hence labour is not an issue there.

(d). Availability of Residential Accommodation Places like Shirgaon, Gahunje, Dehu Road, Chourai Nagar, Vikas Nagar Road which are close to Talegaon Dabhade have a number of residential societies. There are many residential complex in Talegaon Dabhade like Namrata Aikonic, Angan Phase 2, Prime Elegance, Nisarg apartment etc.

(e). Hotels and RestaurantsMany good budgetary hotels are available but there is none 4-5 star hotels available in Talegaon as on date. Star hotels are available in Chakan / Pimpari areas of Pune which is not very far.

(f). Connectivity Details– Talegaon MIDC has good connectivity through Road, Rail, and Air.

The internet services of MTNL, Bharti Airtel, and IDEA etc. are providing high-speed internet services.

(i). Fire Station Services:  MIDC Talegaon houses a fire station in Akurdi.
